There is no doubt that my Mum was a woman of action, you would never describe her as an armchair philosopher, there was too much to do! This poem I think reflects how she would like to be remembered, she loved Joyce Grenfell and I think she would have loved this poem.
Life Goes On
If I should go before the rest of you
Break not a flower
Nor inscribe a stone
Nor when I am gone
Speak in a Sunday voice
But be the usual selves
That I have known
Weep if you must
Parting is hell
But life goes on
So .... sing as well
Joyce Grenfell
